A Hoops Journey is a grassroots Canadian podcast giving you an inside look into current and former players, coaches, officials plus more! Sit down with host Aaron Mitchell and our guests to discover why basketball meant so much to them; stories about learning the game, fun on the road, and how it took them all over the globe.

Although it helps you don’t need to be a hoop head to listen; our guests give perspective on life, leadership, relationships, and all the lessons the beautiful game has provided them.

Aaron Mitchell

Aaron Mitchell is a basketball junkie through and through. As a young person, he loved shooting on his driveway hoop or playing at the local park, with the real bonus of being able to spend days at the Agrodome watching the BC high school boys championships, dreaming of one day participating in that same tournament.

In 1994 Aaron and his Terry Fox Ravens won the Provincial title, the catalyst to a 5-year post-secondary career that had many successes and life lessons along the way. After graduating from Brandon University in 2004, Aaron has been a high school teacher and basketball coach giving back to the game he loves.

Outside of coaching and teaching, Aaron enjoys spending time with family, friends and connecting with new people. A self-admitted extrovert the idea of hosting a podcast became a reality in 2020 when A Hoops Journey came to fruition.

Broadcasting on TV or radio has always been something Aaron dreamed of, so getting to do the podcast allows him to explore this skill set and push his boundaries.

As much as Aaron enjoys interviewing and connecting with the guests, he takes pride in learning from them and the stories they share.
